1. Agreement
By using BC Daycares (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site. The Site is operated by Bottletop Media (“BC Daycares,” “we,” “us”).
2. What BC Daycares is
BC Daycares is a free, informational directory of licensed child care facilities in British Columbia. We bring together information from official and public sources to make it easier to find and compare facilities. The Site is for general information only.
3. No endorsement, no advice, do your own due diligence
We do not own, operate, inspect, vet, or endorse any facility listed. A listing is not a recommendation. Nothing on the Site is professional, legal, or child care advice.
Choosing child care is an important decision. Always verify details directly with the facility and the relevant health authority before making a decision. Licensing and inspection information is published by the health authorities; we link you to their portals but do not control or guarantee that information.
4. Accuracy of information
Facility information is compiled from the Province of British Columbia’s licensed child care records (under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia) and from third parties such as Google. This information may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate, and facilities change over time. The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Information about the ChildCareBC $10 a Day program comes from government sources and is subject to change.
5. Photos and third-party content
Facility photos are provided through Google and remain the property of their respective contributors and rights holders, who are credited where shown. Maps are provided by Mapbox and Google. Your use of those features is also subject to the providers’ own terms.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Site unlawfully; scrape, harvest, or bulk-download its content; overload or disrupt the Site; or misrepresent your affiliation with us. The licensed facility dataset is available directly from the Province under the Open Government Licence if you need the underlying data.
7. Intellectual property
The Site’s design, branding, and original content are owned by BC Daycares. Government data is provided under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia. Third-party content (Google, Mapbox) belongs to those providers.
8. Reviews and user content (future)
The Site does not currently accept parent reviews or other user submissions. When that feature launches, additional terms will apply to user-generated content. Until then, no such functionality is offered.
9. Links to other sites
The Site links to third-party sites, such as health authority inspection portals. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those sites.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BC Daycares is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its content, including any decision you make about a child care facility. You use the Site at your own discretion and risk.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify BC Daycares against claims arising from your misuse of the Site or breach of these Terms.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms as the Site evolves. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We’ll update the “last updated” date above.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada. Disputes will be handled in the courts of British Columbia.
